Our system is comprised of three components: the EcoVender utensil rental machine, the EcoVender mobile application, and our unique RFID-embedded smart utensils. Together, they blend seamlessly to create the optimal experience.​

THE ECOVENDER MACHINE

We've developed a machine that is adaptable and user-friendly, the optimal choice for swift rental

The EcoVender machine serves two functions: the vending and collection of utensils. To rent and return, users will withdraw and insert utensil boxes into the slots arranged at the top of the machine.

THE MACHINE'S TECHNOLOGY

The utensil slots are arranged ten in a row, each slot consisting of a mechanical lock, an RFID scanner, a crash sensor, and an LED light bulb. These components are all connected to the Arduino motherboard for operation. The lower part of the machine consists of a monitor, a computer, and internal wiring for our connective and operative hardware. 

THE ECOVENDER APP

Our App: the connective tissue of the system

Through our app, users can kickstart the rental/return process by scanning the unique QR-code on each machine. Additionally, deposit payment and return will be executed through the money stored on one's profile.

Moving into Beta Development, we're building a plethora of new features, such as a map to locate one's nearest machine, a rewards scheme and customer support.

THE ECOVENDER UTENSILS

They're not just utensils. They're smart.

Each EcoVender utensil is embedded with an LSE 38 RFID chip, which unlocks a plethora of features, such as verifying that the utensils returned are truly ours, tying individual utensils to user profiles, and tracking whether each machine needs restocking.

Each beta utensil was coated in heat-proof resin to secure the RFID chip within. Moving forward, we're manufacturing embedded utensils to create a seamless finish for optimal user experience.
